Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) reported strong earnings for the fiscal quarter ended December 31, 2023, beating Wall Street estimates on both sales and revenue.

Shares of Microsoft rose more than 4% in late trading on the news.

For the quarter, Microsoft reported:

• Revenue of $52.7 billion, up 18% year-over-year
• Earnings per share of $2.32, up 12% year-over-year

The strong results were driven by growth in Microsoft's cloud computing business, which includes Azure and Office 365.

Microsoft also announced that it will report earnings for the fiscal quarter ended March 31, 2024, on April 25, 2024.

Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $2.81 per share, reflecting a year-over-year increase of 10%.
